2012-01-11 Kriisa: "I have my own secret motivation"
Author: Jared Grellet

RAKVERE, Estonia – After being named as the Challenge Cup player of the month in December, Tarvas' Valmo Kriisa was only too happy to answer some questions for bbl.net.

Congratulations on winning the award. Was it the perfect way to end your second decade of playing professional basketball?

Thank you. Yes, we can say so :)

Having played at the highest level for so long – what is it that continues to motivate you to lace up your shoes for every game and training and go out there and compete with guys sometimes half your age?

I have my own secret motivation, I hope that you will hear and understand it after while.

Given your vast experience, what are you doing to help the younger players in the Tarvas lineup?

I don't do anything special, I just am. If someone needs advice or help I am always ready for them. Just ask!

To date this season, have you been happy with your own performances, both in the BBL and Estonian domestic league?

I am happy, when the team is happy. For me my own performance is not important.

How about the performances of your team?

It can always be better but we are ok!

If you can evaluate your position in both leagues right now – where do you realistically want to go from here until the end of the season?

We want to end this season with a positive feeling. I am old enough and I have enough experience to know not to make any predictions before the season is over. Anything can happen!

You have a vast international career – considering your form of late, do you still have aspirations of going back to the national team?

I am Estonian. I have to be ready always for national team.
