Aleksandar Trifunovic will remain the head coach of the SEB BBL champion Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius for at least one more season. The club agreed to extend the contract with the Serbian specialist for the 2007/2008 season.

It took them three tries but Zalgiris Kaunas finally managed to manufacture an away win in this season’s LKL Finals series. On Tuesday Zalgiris 81:77 defeated Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius in Siemens Arena winning the best-of-seven series 4:2.

Zalgiris Kaunas was back on its home floor, it had Loren Woods back in the lineup and it ultimately got back the lead in the LKL Finals series by defeating Lietuvos Rytas 82:74 on Thursday. The series now moves back to Vilnius where it could end with a championship celebration if Lietuvos Rytas fails to beat Zalgiris on Tuesday.

Another surprise shooter showed up for Lietuvos Rytas to help the team defeat Zalgiris Kaunas 73:65 and equalize the LKL Finals series at two games apiece. Martynas Gecevicius simply shot the lights out (5/5 2-point FG, 3/3 3-point FG, 3/3 FT) en route to his season-high 22 points.

After leading for almost entire game, Zalgiris Kaunas defeated Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius 78:64 and regained the lead in LKL Finals series. Kaunas team leads 2-1 and will travel to Vilnius on Monday for a game 4.

Lietuvos Rytas defeated Zalgiris 80:75 on Tuesday to even the LKL Finals series at 1-1. Kareem Rush and Tomas Delininkaitis took the leading roles in an overtime thriller in Siemens Arena. K.Rush was the top scorer (18 points) for the hosts, while T.Delininkaitis did all of his work (17 points, ¾ 3-point shooting) in less than ten minutes. Zalgiris was led by its big men Tanoka Beard (20 points) and Paulius Jankunas (15 points, 10 rebounds).

The Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) Finals series started on Thursday in Kaunas where Zalgiris and Lietuvos Rytas squared-off. The SEB BBL second place winners managed to get the first win in a best-of-seven series after defeating Lietuvos Rytas 82:68.
