Barons Riga decided to strengthen its squad by signing two veterans: 33-year-old Lithuanian Dainius Adomaitis and 32-year-old American Demetrius Alexander.

Gediminas Maceina and Barons/LMT Riga mutually terminated Lithuanian point guard’s contract making him a free agent immediately. A seldom used throughout the Latvian Basketball League semifinal series, G.Maceina was informed that he would not play in team’s battles for the third place. As a result, both sides agreed to part ways.

Kalev/Cramo beat Barons/LMT 82:72 to advance to the second round of the SEB BBL Playoffs. Division II winners moved closer to the SEB BBL Final 4 after dispatching the 6th team from the Division I. Kalev/Cramo not only held its 3-point advantage mustered two days ago in Tallinn but also increased it in front of Riga’s crowd, proving the worthiness of the Estonian champions among the best SEB BBL teams.

The SEB BBL Playoffs started with a nail biter in Tallinn where Kalev/Cramo defeated Barons/LMT Riga 70:67. The Estonians, who were led by Travis Reed (17 points, 16 rebounds), will take a three-point advantage to Riga where both teams meet again on Saturday. Armands Skele led Barons/LMT with 16 points.

The ULEB Cup finalists and the SEB BBL champions displayed their strength at home against Baons/LMT. Lietuvos Rytas defeated Barons/LMT 98:72 to earn its seventh win. As for the Latvians, they will most likely finish the season as the sixth Division I team and will face the winner of the Division II in the playoffs.
