2007-11-10 TU/Rock loses to Barons at home
Tartu started with a lot of confidence, making all of their first six shots and the visitors fell behind early - 14:3. Marek Doronin had 7 points during that run. Even though Barons was great on defence and in getting boards, they were horrible from the free-throw line and still behind 21:13 with three minutes to go in the first quarter. With 3:15 left, Janar Talts committed his third foul and everything in Tartu's game changed - the visitors ended the quarter with 11-nothing run and won the frist period - 23:25. In the beginning of the second quarter, Doronin continued his shooting streak and led Tartu back in front 29:26. But Martins Kravcenko answered with a three-pointer and the game was tied again. "Eagle-eye" Gert Kullamae entered the game for the first time and shined his way to three straight three-pointers during the next 4 minutes. Five seconds left in the first half, George Tsintsadze made a great effort in putting the ball into basket and Tartu up front 46:44. During the third quarter, the point-by-point game continued. Talts made a quick three-pointer and Kaspars Berzins answered with a cool dunk. After Kravcenko's second three-pointer, the game was still tied - 49:49. In the middle of the third, Berzins and Gustas were handed their fourth fouls and Tartu was able to take a three-point lead after Vallo Allingu's two-plus-one play. Tsintsadze made his second last-second play and the third quarter ended with home team's narrow lead - 64-61. In the beginning of the last quarter, Giedrius Gustas - latvians playmaker, committed his fifth foul and seemed like Tartu had all they needed to win. Brian Cusworth handed Kebu Omar Stewart a fierce facial and Tartu gained back his confidence. But Skele and latvians made a decisive 14-2 run during the last five minutes of the game, putting Barons ahead after Kravcenkos another three-pointer - 80:91. The game was basically over and Rock lost 86:96. Armands Skele lead all players with 19.points. Barons had five players with double-figures - Alexander Demetrius Darnell and Gustas had 17, Kravcenko 15 and Vaikulis 10. Darnell had also 9 rebounds. Marek Doronin lead the home team with 17.points, Cusworth had 16 and Tsintsadze helped with 15.points. Cusworth said at the press-conference that the game was lost because the lack of confidence. Barons head coach Karlis Muiznieks said - "Tartu is a great team, escpecially playing at home...We held on and never let Tartu too far ahead" Rock's head coach Kerde said - "Today just was not our day..we held on 35. minutes - 15.minutes longer than against Ventspils..."
