2007-12-03 Interview with Ernests Kalve (ASK Riga)
Author: Andrejs Silins, esports.lv

Q: What role do you see for yourself in ASK Riga this year?

E: I definitely won’t be in the starting five. Firstly, I have to get into the team’s game better. Other players already have gotten on the same page, and I am lagging behind. I can play for about two minutes each quarter and gradually increase my participation.

Q: Why did you reject ASK Riga offer last year, but agreed this year?

E: No comments.

Q: You played great in the European U-18 Championship few years ago and afterwards signed a deal with Treviso Benetton. Were there any other options?

E: There were a lot of different options, but I did not find out all of them myself. There was interest from Madrid Real, Barcelona, Ljubljana Olympia and several places in France and Turkey. Benetton showed the biggest interest of them all. I went to a camp in Italy, and I agreed to stay there.

Q: What were the options before this season?

E: Ventspils wanted to sign a contract with me, there also were options abroad, but no one wanted to deal with my injury. ASK Riga was the only club that would agree to do it. They also have a great coach who works with physical condition, that is why I chose to stay.

Q: How are the new foreign players fitting into the team?

E: Rather OK. Of course, Americans spend more time with Americans, but it is normal. There are no conflicts, we are all getting along.
