Sports journalist of three Baltic States selected Michailas Anisimovas – a center from Neptunas Klaipeda – the Most Valuable Player of the November. 22-year-old 214 cm player was the main force during successful Klaipeda’s November march: team finished the month with a 2-2 record and only in last minutes fell to Zalgiris Kaunas.

In four November games M.Anisimovas’ statistics were nothing but spectacular: 19.3 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 1.3 BPG and 59 % field goal shooting.

Center was happy with the recognition and added that his and team’s play should only improve.

- Michail, you were selected as the SEB BBL MVP of the Month (November). How expected was such award?

- I hoped for it. I always believe in myself but I also think that can play much better. To score a lot of points is not the most important thing, overall contribution to team’s success is what matters more. I am pleased with such selection, but I also hope that this award will not be the last in my career. I am going to work hard to keep a steady high-level of play and hopefully it will bring me MVPs of other months.

- Your last month was truly creditable. What was the key to such successful play?

- A lot of things contributed – coach, other players. We have a very good coach who trusts in me and is a great leader. In years spent in Lietuvos Rytas (Robertas Kuncaitis was assistant coach with Lietuvos Rytas) he improved as a specialist. It is a pleasure to work with him. Also, my team-mates trust in me, as a always get a ball in good positions. Currently I am also the only center on our team, so I get a lot of playing time. My playing shape is also good at the moment. So, as you see, everything fell into one.

- After Donatas Zavackas left Klaipeda for the Ukrainian team Neptunas’ play did not decline. Did team find a new leader?

- Zavackas was not a team player. He enjoyed playing a more individual game; therefore sometimes it was hard to finish our set plays because they would simply break in the middle. But I don’t want to reproach him as he scored a lot of points and helped us a lot. Right now we are playing more team basketball. I think we are also starting to know each other better and results are also improving.

- With D.Zavackas away do you feel yourself more confident on the floor?

- Before we had more big men and I was getting less playing time. Now we lack low post players so the remaining guys must contribute more. We are waiting for Vitalijus Stanevicius to finally cure his sinusitis problems and star playing. His presence is missing greatly.

- Neptunas came very close to upsetting the SEB BBL leader Zalgiris Kaunas. What caused you a win in that game?

- I think we just missed a little bit of luck. At the end Kasiulevicius’ three-point shot was from a very good position, unfortunately, it did not go in. We could also go for two points and a tie, but to beat Zalgiris in overtime would have been even harder. We had our chance but failed to garb it. Situations like this happen all the time.

- Are you satisfied with the current results of your team?

- Yes, we are happy with what we’ve achieved so far. We are glad with our victory against Siauliai. This game proved that we are no weaker than them. I hope that our team will add few players and we will be even stronger.

- Along with a rising play of Neptunas maybe team’s goals are also changing?

- In the Lithuanian Basketball League we must play for the bronze medals. In the SEB BBL tough opponents await – Kalev/Cramo and Barons. We defeated Estonians, but we lost against the Latvians. However, in that game we didn’t display our best teamwork. I think we won’t be among SEB BBL’s outsiders.
Our team is young; its average age is 22 years so we lack experience. But it is a learning process, we have good coach and everything will only improve.
