Vote for the SEB BBL Picture of the Year All season long photographers have been working hard to provide us with the most spectacular and the most colorful reflections of the SEB BBL action. Those guys are hardly noticeable at the game, but their work always attracts and gives us a lot of joy and things to remember. With less than a week left to our final event of the year (Final 4) let’s watch the best moments of the SEB BBL regular season captured by various Baltic “paparazzi”. Cast your vote and decide which of the following photos (along with its author) should get the Picture of the Year award! The vote is now over. Thank you!

Interview with A.Kiausas An athletic 199 cm forward Aivaras Kiausas not only was one of the main players in Sakalai’s rotation this year, but also entertained fans with high-flying dunks. 26-year-old this season became LKL slam dunk champion, while in the SEB BBL analogical contest ended up second. A.Kiausas decided to finish this season in Gestiberica Vigo club (Spanish 3rd league). - Why you have decided to play in this Spanish team? - In some leagues it is still possible to register new players, so I thought it would be more useful to go there. My agent found this team and I’m planning to finish this season in Spain. - Do you feel any discomfort playing not in a very strong club? - Of course it’s the third league in Spain, but it’s a better opportunity to play here rather than stay in Sakalai for two remaining games. Realistically there are two games left for Vilnius’ team and the season is over, while here I’ll be able to play more than a month. Furthermore, maybe someone will notice me. Even if not, my shape will be much better and the break between the spring and autumn won’t be that long.

Interview with Aloyzas Rudys 44-year-old Aloyzas Rudys is Siauliai head coach for the second consecutive season. A year ago the strategist has won both SEB BBL and LKL bronze medals and gained the good reputation. However, this season appears to be more difficult than the previous one. The FIBA Europe cup was not really successful, while in the LKF cup they ended up fourth. We’ll see whether Siauliai will be able to defend the third place in SEB BBL. Having in mind how they play, it’s going to be very difficult to achieve that. - This season Siauliai lacks of consistency. Sometimes your team wins against strong opponents, but the other time it falls short versus weaker teams. How come? - I think it’s lack of motivation and the undervalue of opponents, but it’s difficult to do that against every single team you play. Siauliai is the third best team in Lithuanian for some years now, so rivals show bigger willingness to fight harder against us. We had very tough games this season over Panevezys and Kedainiai on the road, they just crushed us. We don’t say that other teams can’t win against Siauliai, but defeat by more than double digits is too much.

Interview with A.Bagatskis Today the current Lacplesa Alus team’s head coach and famous former player Ainars Bagatskis celebrates his 40’th birthday. Last season he was playing Barons coach, but later on became the head coach of Zalgiris Kaunas. However, the beginning of the new season was not successful for Bagatskis and the strategist decided to join Valmiera early in February. The arrival of a great specialist had a big impact on Lacplesa Alus team. Before his arrival Valmiera was able to get only 3 victories, while under the new coach Lacplesa Alus has won 7 games out of 8 and advanced to the play-offs, where it will face ASK Riga in the first round. - As soon as you joined Lacplesa Alus, the team started to show incredible results as it has won 7 games out of 8. How did you manage to achieve that? - They’ve said already that we’ve lost only once, I didn’t count it myself. It was felt that we’re winning and that was really good. I don’t really think that it all started since my arrival to the team. The former coach also did a pretty good job. He gathered all the players and coached them. I’ve only changed practices, the style of play. We’ve also invited a couple of new players, but most importantly, the fortune was there and one of the main reasons of success. The teamwork was already good, I came up with some new ideas.
