Interview with M.Berkis 21-year-old Lacplesa Alus guard Martins Berkis plays his second season in Valmiera. 198 cm guard isn’t that well-known yet, but he already is the leading scorer for his team averaging 14,6 points and 3 rebounds per game. Off the court M.Berkis is humble and has a good sense of humor. - You were born in Riga, but play basketball in Valmiera, how did you get there? - I’ve been playing in Riga’s basketball school’s team since I was 9. When I finished it, I was invited to play for the Latvian youth (U-20) team that is being coached by my current coach of Lacplesa Alus, so he invited me to play here.

Interview with Travis Reed The leading player of BC Kalev/Cramo Tallinn is 27-year-old Travis Reed, averaging 16.8 ppg and 6.8 rpg. Stepping into the fight for Top 2 in SEB BBL 2nd Division, Reed wishes a happy new year to all Baltic basketball fans. Travis, is it a big disappointment that Kalev/Cramo didn't reach Division I in SEB BBL? No, it's not. Of course, we are not happy with the situation but main thing is that we're playing better and better. But it was too late to overcome the close losses of the start of season. Now we have to focus on winning the next games and especially, winning away games. Kalev won zero away games in 1st stage. What needs to be done? Yes, we had no luck in away games. It's ... very hard to play in Lithuania. At least, I'm glad that we didn't get blow-outs. We lost to Zalgiris by two points, to Klaipeda by one. Such losses hurt pretty bad and we can't afford to lose away games, at least not all of them. We have a lot of talent in the team and it is very hard to make such a talent play well together. It takes time. The coach and assistant coach are doing fine and we can only get better.

Interview with V.Dabkus 22 year-old Valdas Dabkus first time in his career signed a contract with Lithuanian club. Earlier 202 cm forward performed in US college team, Italian, Spanish, Polish and Latvian clubs. V.Dabkus is one of the leaders of Atletas Kaunas’ team averaging 15,8 points, 5,5 rebounds, 2,3 steals and 2,1 assists per game in SEB BBL. - You’ve been playing in Poland, Italy, Spain. How did you do there, have you got a valuable experience? - Everywhere is good if you get a chance to play. In abroad there were higher level practices, but under particular circumstances I’ve chosen to play for weaker teams due to the wish to play more minutes. Of course, practices give you a lot, but actual games give you the opportunity to improve, get a self-confidence. I think that I’ve got a lot of experience in European teams.
