Interview with M.Petravicius

27-year-old Marijonas Petravicius was one of the leaders of last year’s Ventspils and helped the team to become the champion of Latvia. After successful season he had several proposals and seems that he made the right one.

He doesn’t have so many minutes on the court but this is because he plays for the reigning champion of the SEB BBL Lietuvos Rytas team.

- How would you describe your last season when you were playing for Ventspils? Was it successful?

- Last season I started after a difficult Achilles injury and begun to play better in the middle of the year. I managed to finish in a good shape so you I may call last year successful.

- Why did you choose Lietuvos Rytas’ proposal?

Muursepp: Tartu is the best place to play basketball

Martin Muursepp is one of the greatest players in the history of the Estonian basketball. He played for a well-known European teams as well as in the NBA. Despite many offers at the end of the last season, Muursepp decided to come back to his native country and signed one year contract with Rock from Tartu.

- You’ve played for so many good teams, even in the NBA. Why did you decide to return to Estonia?

- If I’m not mistaken I’ve spent 13 or 15 years abroad, so I decided to change my lifestyle. I wanted to come back and at least for one year to play for “my” team. Maybe I will go somewhere else in future but at the moment I’m satisfied with the conditions. Estonia is the native place for my fiancee and me. We are together for a long time.

- Why didn’t you choose your native team from Tallinn?

Zalgiris Kaunas’ forward Jonas Maciulis is the new fan favourite. 197 cm guy lacks height, but he’s a true fighter and always wants to win. 21-year-old has been near Zalgiris for most of his life, but made the team working exceptionally hard. Muscular player is often named the Lithuanian Charles Barkley.

J.Maciulis is averaging 10,6 points, 3,9 rebounds, 1,6 steals and 1,4 assists per game in SEB BBL.

- Jonas, where did that fighter instinct come from?

- That’s just my character. I fight for myself on and off the court. I always try to be ahead of everyone. That’s probably my exceptional feature.
