ASK Riga took an important win over Tartu Rock 78:59. All of ASK Riga players contributed to the victory, especially Dwayne Broyles.
The start of the first quarter compelled the spectators to anticipate a close game. Both competitors were not afraid of losing some sweat in their path to victory, as the teams played solid defense. Broyles and Tsintsadze exchanged some drilled looks, and the game took off. Soon, the result was 18:18. If not for the great ASK Riga run in the last two minutes of the quarter, the beginning of the game was really even. Valters and Broyles had a strong streak from distance; this helped ASK Riga to rise over Tartu Rock after the first quarter 27:20.
The nature of the second quarter was a perfect inverse of what the spectators saw before. All dice seemed to fall in ASK Riga favour, and the difference in the score started to grow. The Rock squad had tangible problems with the pace of the hosts, and Buskevics and Broyles did not hesitate to use this factor. Before the big break, the gap was close to twenty points 46:28.
The situation had no inclination to change in the last two quarters of the game. While the big men of Tartu Rock played some decent basketball, the backcourt obviously was weak against ASK Riga perimeter. Only Paade was ready to step his game up. It did not take much time to increase the difference to a point beyond the reach of the guest team 62:32. The last quarter was more of a formality, and the final result 78:59 does not really reflect the real nature of the end of the game.
