An interview with Marko Popovic (Zalgiris)

One of the most popular Zalgiris Kaunas players for quite some time now 25-year-old Croat Marko Popovic gets a huge support from the fans. 185 cm guard also shines in European as well as Lithuanian press. M.Popovic had a magnificent month of December. He became the most valuable player of the month in SEB BBL averaging 18,3 points, 3,3 rebounds and 2,8 assists per game during it.

- Did you expect to become the MVP of December?

- No, I’m not chasing those titles, there’s nothing more important than my team’s victories and that’s not only words that I should say, that’s the way it is for me. I was really genuinely surprised when I became aware of this.

- What does it mean for you?

- It’s going to give me more confidence, motivation to work harder, also showcase my efforts and play better. I’m really happy to play in SEB BBL and being part of it is a great thing.

According to lrytas.lt zalgiris new player will be Wayne Simien! Now we need to wait official news, i hope it's true:) After ncaa he played in Miami heat, In his second season he had injurie problems, so he played just in 8 games.. Still i would like to see Kalev in play-off. But not Valmiera or Neptunas. Their just a little bit weaker than others. Stimac should get a better group, where to play in BBL.

No! Kalev has 8 games upcoming. Every club plays 18 games, not 20 dude!

If i watch the upcoming games, then its Kalev, Rock, Kalev and Rock again lol. Its reasonable also, because Kalev has only played 10 games. Neptunas will have a real fight with Kalev, with Reed not playing. Rock shouldnt have problems with Valmiera. Kalev will surely lose to ASK Riga and Rock also will lose to ASK. But Barons will get to top 3 for sure! Šiauliai has a flat tire now and Ventspils hopefully will get a better number of wins. Go Latvia derby!
