An interview with Marko Popovic (Zalgiris)
One of the most popular Zalgiris Kaunas players for quite some time now 25-year-old Croat Marko Popovic gets a huge support from the fans. 185 cm guard also shines in European as well as Lithuanian press. M.Popovic had a magnificent month of December. He became the most valuable player of the month in SEB BBL averaging 18,3 points, 3,3 rebounds and 2,8 assists per game during it.

- Did you expect to become the MVP of December?

- No, I’m not chasing those titles, there’s nothing more important than my team’s victories and that’s not only words that I should say, that’s the way it is for me. I was really genuinely surprised when I became aware of this.

- What does it mean for you?

- It’s going to give me more confidence, motivation to work harder, also showcase my efforts and play better. I’m really happy to play in SEB BBL and being part of it is a great thing.

An interview with Joao Paolo Batista (Barons/LMT)
26-year-old Joao Paolo Batista started this season in Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius club, but later on was traded to Barons/LMT Riga team. Always with a smile on his face J.P. Batista played very well in his new team so far. He performed in 3 games and averaged 17,3 points along with 7,3 rebounds and 2 assists.

- Whose initiative it was to leave the team - J.P.Batista or Lietuvos Rytas?

- The Club initiated the trade. I signed a 2-year contract and was willing to play exactly that time.

- When you finished Gonzaga, you chose to play in Vilnius. Now maybe you regret making that decision? Maybe your career could’ve turned differently?

- I don’t regret on my decision to play in Vilnius. They offered a good contract and it was the best situation for me coming out of Gonzaga. I’m very careful taking decisions and I believe it was the best one at the moment. I’ll definitely be more careful next time a team offers a multi-year contract.

The most valuable player of October 203 cm forward Marius Janisius is showing very solid results this season. In a survey where Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian journalists participated, he collected 70 points and overcame Klavs Ansons (Liepajas Lauvas, 64 points) as well as Zydrunas Urbonas (Techasas, 30).
