2008-02-12 Nevezis comes closer
4 games have been played today in the Challenge Cup and the key one was held in Kedainiai as the local Nevezis club took on Fausto and defeated the visitors 85:58. That was victory number 13 for Nevezis which now is breathing to VEF Riga`s back in the battle for the first spot.
Valdas Vasylius was one of the six players who appeared in double figures for the winners. He had 14 points, Benas Veikalas (5 rebs.) and Zydrunas Stankus collected 12 apiece. Ardo Armpalu scored 25 points and had 13 rebounds for Fausto.
Techasas could not contain VEF Riga at home and fell short 76:87. The Latvians secured the first place in the standings. Mindaugas Budzinauskas scored 19 points for the hosts, Phillip Williams had a double-double including 15 points and 14 boards. Edgars Jeromanovs (7 rebs., 4 ast.) scored 19 for VEF Riga, Maxim Shelekto added 16.
Sakalai did not start the game well against Liepajas Lauvas and that appeared to be crucial at the end of the game. They fought back their way, but could not close it out and lost 63:66. Arnas Labuckas scored 27 points and had 9 rebounds for Vilnius' team, Linas Lekavicius added 10 (7 rebs.). Mareks Jurevicus nailed 21 (7 rebs.) for the winners, Vernon Hamilton - 19.
Arvi-Suduva had no problem against Bumerangs/ASK at home and outclassed the Latvians 99:85 en route to their 12'th win this season. Paulius Joneliunas had his best game this season scoring 24 points (7 rebs.), Gytis Sirutavicius added 19. Uldis Rudzitis stood out of Bumerangs/ASK with 18 points and 4 assists.
