2009-04-01 Beard leads Rock to Final Four
Rock took the lead quickly in the first quarter. Marek Doronin's second three pointer gave Rock a 17:5 lead. Nate Fox and John Linehan were able stop Rock a bit. Rock won the first quarter 19:13.
Kalev started the secon quarter with a quick 6-0 run and tied the game. Still Beard didn't allow Kalev to get the lead. Kullamaes two three-pointers in minute time brought Rock ahead - 27-21. Rock won the first half - 33:25.
During the first minutes of the second half, Kalev made a 16-3 run. Led by Arbet's 6 straight points. Kalev took the lead 41:36 with four minutes to play in the third. Rock finally was able to slow home teams pace and the teams headed to the final quarter of regulation with Kalev ahead - 51:45.
In the fourth, Tanel Tein and Viktor Sanikidze quickly tied the game. But, Pace's five straight points gave Kalev a 5-point lead. Doronin's three-pointer was answered by Kristjan Kangur's three. But, Doronins second three-pointer cut the lead to two. With 20 seconds to play, Linehan lost the ball and made a quick foul to Kullamae, whose two free-throws tied the game. Linehan then brought fast the ball over and shot - but missed. Kangur was able to get the offencive rebound but Janar Talts blocked his shot. And the teams headed to over-time.
Free-throws from both teams kept the game tied. With 2:20 to play, Pace brought Kalev ahead by three points. Tsintsadze answered with a three pointer. Pace took Kalev ahead again, this time by two. But Kullamae's free-throws tied the game. With 1:10 to play Linehan's free-throw gave Kalev a 1-point lead. But Tsintsadze's another three pointer took Rock ahead instead. With 23 seconds to play Linehan brought the ball over again and again couldn't nail the three-pointer. But, Kalev was still able to maintain the ball. With 7 seconds left, Fox got the ball and connected a two pointer. Game was tied and 2 and half seconds was remaining. Rock took a time-out. After the break, Rock got the ball into Tanoka Beards hands, who had no other option than to shoot the ball being 8 metres away from the basket. He shot and was victorious. Rock won 71:68.
