The most valuable player of February in SEB BBL Elite division became 206 cm forward Virginijus Praskevicius out of Siauliai club. 35 years old player led his team to 3 straight victories during this month and was the main reason of that kind of success. He averaged 15,7 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal with the efficiency coefficient 22,3.
- What are the first impressions of being named the MVP of February in SEB BBL Elite division?- I really was surprised to get this award. Even though it is not the most important thing in my life, I'm still happy to be recognized. Of course if I got this 10 years ago, the feeling would have been different. My teammates helped me a lot and the team played well, so that's probably the main reason why I got it.
- Did the arrival of Antanas Sireika have influence on your performance?- Of course, the coach lets me play a lot, relies on me and I really try to perform well, sometimes I get more plays than other guys.
- You played so well on February because it was really important month for your team or is it just a coincidence?- Maybe you noticed that I've had some really bad games and exceptionally good ones on the contrary. I did not get it going consistently because of the injuries. What concerns the importance of games I don't really pay attention whether one game is important and the other one is not, I just step on the court and play, while a lot depends on the shape.
- This is your first full SEB BBL season, how could you evaluate the strength of the competition?- The financial crisis touched the majority of league's clubs and the competition was stronger early in a season, especially Latvian teams were very tough. The same goes for Lithuanian basketball league (LKL). I think LKL twice as strong last season than it is now. All the major Lithuanian teams including us were stronger last season, but it is what it is and you can nothing do about it.
- It is most-likely that your team will end up 5'th in the regular season standings, of course if it won't lose to Rock more than 20 points. How could you evaluate it?- So far evaluation would be quite positive, but the season didn't end yet. Furthermore, the play-offs will be most important and the spot in the regular season is not very meaningful. You can get third or fourth place and don't achieve anything. I think any player wants to win as many games as possible.
- What are the main goals of the season for Siauliai?- We don't have exact goals, but our coach wants us to achieve as much as possible in SEB BBL. In LKL championship we want to get at least third place. For me personally third place doesn't mean anything. I've been a champion before, so all that matters for me is to be on top.
- Do you have any other personal goals for this season? You achieved a lot in your career, what else motivates you to go out there and play?- Every time I go to play my motivation is to be better than the opponent and win against him. Adrenalin always comes and I feel no lack of motivation.
- Do you think about the next season? would you stay in Siauliai?- I just think how to complete this one (laughs). It is really early to think about the future.
- Not long before Siauliai had a spectacular victory against Lietuvos Rytas and there were a lot of talks about Vilnius' team playng too loose and did not put the full effort. Was it true?- They did not have two of the leaders, so it was not easy for them. It is difficult to speculate what would have been if their leaders played. Anyway, we'll have a chance to repeat it.
- When do you plan to finish your career?- It is a tough question, I don't really have an answer to that now, anything can happen so quickly with the injuries and all that.
