Sakalai Vilnius kept chances to advance into SEB BBL Elite Division next year by defeating 84:77 VEF Riga  in SEB BBL Challenge Cup final game. Now Vilnius team will play relagation game with last Elite Division team Nevezis Kedainiai.Siksnius  and his last 3-pointer  were of a huge importance in this game.


Sakalai started way too simple for the complex picture put together by VEF Riga. Their offensive movement often got trapped in the defensive nets.

On the other side, VEF  started to play simple, effective basketball (10:4, 7min.). Although VEF Riga managed to keep in front, this lead was far from a stable one (13:9,5min.). After the first quarter 28:25 in VEF Riga favour.



This balance changed its way in the second quarter, since Sakalai with the help of team work managed to overtake the lead from VEF Riga (38:33,5min).  But Vilnius team had no power  to end the half in their favour  - 46:42 by VEF.

 
In the third quarter both teams seemed morally prepared for the final. But there were some signs of hope for Riga team to reborn and take good strike (58:50 (by VEF), 6min.).
After the third quarter just 62:61  in Riga team favour.

Last quarter was very compulsive and the game was even (69:65 (by VEF), 8min,). Lithuanians did not give their chances away  but  VEF showed strong character in this situation too (74:70 (by VEF), 5min., 74:74, 4min.).

Finally, Sakalai has made determinant run  (77:80 (by Sakalai), 1min.) and won the whole game with the result 77:84.
