2010-01-30 Rock gave Siauliai a beating at home

the last game between the two teams Siauliai had their way with Rock and handed Tartu a 35 point loss. This time, the tables had turned and Rock crushed Siauliai at home. Rock started the game well and was able to hold a 10-plus lead for the entire second half and finally won an easy game over Siauliai 86:62 (30:17; 20:18; 15:14; 21:13).

Rock moved to a 6th place again with 5 wins of 13 games, Siauliai fell to 4th (7/12).

TU/Rock got off to a great start and was leading after three minutes 10:2. Visitors finally had their rythm going in the middle of the quarter, as they dimished the gap to four. But, that was basically it - Rock ended the quarter with a 17-8 run and won 30:17. Tartus point-guard Abernethy had already 10 points and his team was making 80 percent of their two-point field goal attempts.

Siauliai started the second period with two straight three-pointers. But few posessions later motivated home team made a 8-0 run and built a comfortable 17 point lead and held basically the lead until the end of the first half. So, Rock lead in the middle - 50:35. Siauliai was struggling from three-point line, as they had hit only 2 shots of 12. At the same time, Rock was a bit more efficient - 6/11.

Abernethy was the leading scorer with 12 points. Siksnius had 10 for Siauliai. Gailius, Grafs and Sarakauskas had 3 fouls, adding more trouble to the guests already wounded frontline, as they Mindaugas Kuzminskas was missing today.

First minutes of the third quarter belonged again to Tartu. Behind Janar Talts and Scott Morrison, Rock built the lead to 23 points. Siauliai had nothing going for them until the 7th minute of the the period, when Low and Zukauskas combined for seven straight points during the next two minutes. Finally, Siauliai was able to cut Rock's lead to 16, after they had closed the quarter out with a 9-2 run and was trailing - 64:49.

Siauliai continued well play in the fourth and made two quick baskets. With six and a half minutes left, Rock had committed all team fouls and after Zukauskas's two free-throws, the score was 69:55. But the next two posessions were probably the most crucial, as Rock was able to make a quick 5-0 run (Three from Sten-Timmu Sokk and a dunk from Morrison) that continued to a 12:1 run and with two minutes left, Rock had a solid 24-point lead. The game was done and Rock won their fifth game in this years BBL Elite Division.

Janar Talts was finally games leading scorer with 20 points (4 three-pointers) and 8 rebounds. Scott Morrison, who was fouled out in the middle of the last quarter, didn't miss a single shot and had 16 and 7 rbs. Abernethy finished with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Timo Eichfuss continued it's great sixth man game with 10 points and 6 rebounds. The hosts made 10/20 three-pointers, Siauliai had a nightmare from behind the arc - 3/23...

Arvydas Siksnius was Siauliai's best with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Deividas Gailius and Derrick Low added 13 and 12, respectively. Sarakauskas had 8 points and 10 rbs.
