MasterCard BBL tournament is coming to its logical ending. Lietuvos Rytas and Zalgiris are still fighting for the first place, however there are plenty of teams that are looking towards the third spot. The best positions are for teams Ventspils, which currently are the third, and Siauliai, which has a great potential to take the third place from team Ventspils. Other teams like Valmiera, Rock, Kalev/Cramo and VEF Riga have chances to take the third place but their chances are much weaker than for Ventspils and Siauliai. But let’s move on to the individual successes and statistics. Journalists and media representatives have made their choice and determined the MVP of MasterCard BBL Elite Division in January. This time it is Ernests Kalve from team Ventspils. His biggest effort was put in the game against Lithuanian grand Zalgiris. Surprisingly Ventspils managed to win this game and Kalve was the leader of the team by scoring 25 points and collecting 31 effectiveness points.

Overall during the month of January Kalve scored 17,7 points on average per game. Additionally, Ernests Kalve on average collected 3,7 rebounds per game. Moreover, Latvian player made 1,7 assists during January. Next on it is worth mentioning Ventspils player stole 0,7 balls on average during the games of January.

In the month of January Ernests Kalve proved himself as a good sharpshooter as he realized 60% of his three point shots (9 out of 15). Additionally he was precise from the free-throw line on 14 occasions out of 16 showing 87,5% accuracy.

Individual efforts would be worthless without the team success. So, team Ventspils during the three games of January earned two victories. The only loss was against the still unbeaten Lietuvos Rytas. One of the victories was earned against principal rivals VEF Riga and the second one as already mentioned was against team Zalgiris.
