MasterCard Survey: Basketball for a Long Time to Be the Most Popular Sport in Lithuania Vilnius, 23 April 2010 – According to a survey commissioned by MasterCard, title sponsor of the MasterCard Baltic Basketball League (BBL), basketball can be expected to remain the leading sports in Lithuania for many more years. 60 percent of young Lithuanians under the age of 25 say they are most interested in basketball, with 56 percent of the population between 26 and 35 years and 53 percent of the overall population sharing the same view. Following in the second place – with a huge margin - is football, ahead of figure skating and athletics.
