Another MVP title in MasterCard BBL Challenge cup goes to a member of Techasas – Ernestas Ezerskis. On average, he collected 18,0 points during January. Further on he grabbed 6,0 rebounds per game in the Challenge Cup. Additionally, he managed to make 4,0 assists and 2,0 steals per game. He blocked 2,3 shots on average, what is not typical for a guard and entered the fourth place among the players who had the most blocks in January. Finally, Techasas player collected 26,0 effectiveness points during the three games in January.
What are the first impressions of being named the MVP of January in MasterCard BBL Challenge Cup division? Is this nomination important for you?
It is a surprise for me, because I haven’t studied my statistics. Of course, it‘s very nice to receive such nomination. But I want to say, that the team’s victory is more important for me.
Techasas demonstrate sufficiently good results in Lithuania Basketball league (LKL) and surprised basketball experts, because they expected less from this team. Where do you think is your strength?
I think, our strength is our coach. He formed the team, created the team game, the team spirit. It helps us play.
This season is the best in your whole career. You are one of the team leaders. Who helped to show such personal results? What is the best compliment you have heard from a coach?
The coach lets me play a lot, he relies on me. This season I‘m getting a lot of time in the court, my teammates also feel confidence with me. So, this is the main reason for my good play. Yes, he tells compliments after the good games, but more often he speaks about mistakes and what I must not do.
Techasas, for one reason or another, has a big rotation of the players: some leave, others arrive. What impact does this have on the movement of the players?
Who do the players miss most?
Of course, it is no good for the team, because all new players must adapt to the team, understand the game, the tactics, "move into the team". It takes time. We are missing all players, who left the team. All of them were important for the team.
Quite often you are blocking opponents’ shots, what is not typical for a guard. How do you do it? Maybe you like this basketball element the most?
Yes, I like blocking the shots, because I have a not bad jump. Earlier on I always tried to jump as high as possible; I think my jump is trained.
What would you like to improve in your play?
I think, I must improve everywhere, but mostly I would like to improve my shots.
Not long ago Techasas won against Siauliai in the LKL game. This is not the last surprise from Techasas?
I think it is not the last surprise. We will try to make more.
