Kalev/Cramo never trailed in this game and right from the beginning started to build their lead over visiting Perlas. Kalev won it's first BBL game with an easy 88-59 win. (21:11; 28:19; 24:13; 15:16)
Starting fives:
Perlas: Dambrauskas, Viskontas, Slezas, Bendzius, Staniulis
Kalev/Cramo: Dorbek, Toome, Tamm, Arbet, Keerles
When yesterday, against TTU, Perlas started the game perfectly, than today it was the other way around. Kalev/Cramo started the game with a 8-0 run and Joosep Toome's sixth point gave home team an early, 10:3 lead. Kalev's defence was working as Perlas kept missing and after Kristo Orulas three, the guests were trailing 19:8. And Kalev won the first quarter by ten points. Perlas continued to shoot poorly from free throw line (12/5) and made only three field goals in the first quarter.
Both teams started the second quarter full of energy. As shots were falling from both sides, the gap stayed the same. 7.40 left, Jacevicius hit his first threepointer, but Keerles answered with a three (his 11th point) of his own in the next possession and the score was 30:20. But with four minutes left, Kalev started a crazy 14-2 run and won the first half easily - 49:30. Rait Keerles was the leading scorer with 15 points already. Joosep Toome had 8. Perlas had made only one of its 11 three point tries.
Kalev showed no mercy and continued to build their lead in the first posessions of the second half. After Toome's dunk, Perlas was trailing already by 23. And five straight points, that included a threepointer and a dunk, during the next minute from Dorbek, showed that the young Perlas team from Lithuania was in big trouble. Perlas had simply no chances in getting closer, as Kalev responded to every basket they made. And the home team went on to the last quarter with a large, 30- point lead.
The fourth quarter was basically a formulation. Saks's dunk with 6 minutes left held Kalev ahead by 30. And Perlas had no chance getting back.
Kalev/Cramo had 36 rebounds against Perlas 27. And shot nearly 60 percent from the field. Perlas made only 38 percent of his shots.
